Xperia PLAY Set to Revolutionize Mobile Gaming

Sony Ericsson’s recently revealed Android mobile phone, the Xperia PLAY, is set to revolutionize the mobile gaming sphere, as well as facilitating the breakthrough of Android into mainstream gaming circles. Commonly referred to as the PlayStation phone, the new PlayStation certified phone successfully integrates smartphone features such as the popular Android software platform with a portable games console, designed to provide the most complete and entertaining mobile gaming experience that has ever been available to consumers.

Powered by a 1GB Snapdragon processor, the Xperia PLAY delivers uncompromised mobile gaming ability. With an official PlayStation sliding control pad, two shoulder buttons and two analogue touch inputs all optimized to ensure that the gaming quality is equal to the standard of real consoles, the smartphone also carries a number of games exclusive to the handset.

Ben Padley, Head of Digital Marketing and CRM for Sony Ericsson, said: “The Xperia PLAY is not just a PSP phone. It provides the best smartphone experience possible through the new Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system alongside next generation mobile gaming features, essentially fulfilling both the needs and wants of consumers worldwide.

“The PlayStation certified phone is one that has been talked about for some time, and we’re confident that the new handset will reshape the landscape of mobile gaming following its public release. Having launched the product through our Facebook platform, we have already seen a glimpse of how eagerly anticipated the Xperia PLAY is amongst our fan base.”

Sony Ericsson has already announced a number of games that will be released on the platform, as well as support from a number of games developers including both EA Games and Gameloft. The handset’s Android 2.3 operating system will also come with the myriad Google applications, as well as Sony Ericsson’s own signature applications, Timescape and Mediascape.
