Sony Launches the TZ VAIO line

Sony introduces the TZ VAIO, a new line up of high-performance ultra-portable notebooks that incorporate the power of a larger PC into a small, portable unit. Measuring less than one-inch thick and weighing in at less than three pounds, these new luxuriously sleek PCs can be taken just about anywhere in style. Designed with portability in mind, the TZ VAIO offers fast, secure and integrated access to Bell’s high speed mobile network.

With a subscription to a wireless Internet plan, clients can access the Internet, email, network applications or corporate VPNs, all on the go. This means access without the need for a data card, phone jack, or hot spot. As Bell’s high speed mobile network is dedicated to data use, it offers extremely fast upload and download rates. Clients can enjoy broadband-like speed, wirelessly, almost everywhere their business takes them in North America (available in 1xEV-DO coverage areas).

The notebook packs the latest Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo ultra-low processor designed for high performance and low power consumption - perfect for advanced multi-tasking. The unit delivers anywhere from four to 7.5 hours of standard battery life on a single charge.

The notebook is available in classic black and champagne gold. The unit has a carbon-fibre casing that contributes to its lightweight and durable, extra-slim shape. The model incorporates an energy-efficient 11.1-inch widescreen display (diagonal) with Sony’s original XBRITE-HiColour LCD technology, producing images in brilliant detail for razor-sharp viewing on the go.

Designed for ease-of-use, the keyboard’s keys are raised slightly above an attractive piano-black bezel layer producing a user-friendly touch. An extra support layer has been added to increase the stability of the keys, giving them an unwavering motion for quieter typing.

The TZ VAIO is also compatible with Bluetooth(R)-enabled devices and offers advanced features like LocationFree(R) software and a DVD and CD burner that meet the entertainment needs of any PC user.

Mobility and Performance

Plans for lighter users start at $25 per month for 4 MB of use and Bell recently launched an unlimited data plan for $75 per month, an exceptional value for heavier users. Customer can find more information about these plans at bell.ca/sonyvaio or sonystyle.ca/bell.

The unit’s built-in 802.11n wireless LAN capabilities make it faster and easier to connect to compatible wireless networks with greater performance and range. The new notebook features integrated Bluetooth technology for wireless communication with compatible Bluetooth-enabled devices. Sony’s SmartWi(TM) technology has also been added for a seamless experience navigating between wireless WAN, wireless LAN and Bluetooth technologies. The laptop is also compatible with hot spots.

An optional MOTION EYE(R) camera with a microphone built into the razor-thin LCD panel lets PC users video conference with colleagues, families and friends with an Internet connection and VoIP service (sold separately). For security, an integrated biometrics fingerprint sensor has been added so that content is password protected and accessible with the touch of a finger. The PC comes pre-installed with the Microsoft(R) Windows Vista(R) Business operating system.

Entertainment

With the incorporated Instant Mode, the TZ VAIO enables consumers to go straight to watching a movie, playing music or viewing photos at the touch of a button, without having to boot-up the operating system.

The included Click to DVD(R) software and DVD+/-R Double Layer/DVD+/-RW drive can be used to create customized DVDs, dynamic presentations and manage multimedia files.

The standard VAIO TZ notebook will be priced at approximately $2,299, and available at www.sonystyle.ca or the Sony Store.
